My wife and I disagree but I think this pizza is awesome! Both the thin and Chicago style pizzas are worth every dollar. However, I think the Chicago style pizza is the best pie in LS. Wonderful spicy (not hot) sauce and genuine Chicago crust taste and texture. Service had been generally good. The pizzas definitely take time so grab one of their awesome beers. They have a great selection. Also, you can decorate your own door for them to hang... How cool is that?

Three stars. Here's why. I'm from Chicago. NDP's main attraction is their deep dish pizza. Sorry fellas, but it's not even close. If you go into this place expecting to receive a pizza like the one pictured on their website, you'll get it and wish you'd ordered the thin crust. Basically their deep dish is a 1.5" deep crust filled with regular toppings as you'd see on a thick crust pizza. That's just what it is... A thick crust pizza. It's not that ooey, gooey, serve-a-slice-and-pull-out-a-two-foot-string-of-melted-cheese type deep dish pizza. Sadly. In all fairness, I've given it a go three times now, in hopes of finding greatness away from my sweet home. No dice. Their thin crust, though, ain't half bad. Pretty good truth be told. Service there is always top notch too. If they mess something up, they'll make it right, no questions asked. NDP always gets good beers... They must treat their beer reps well. They had the stealthy Boulevard Chocolate Ale on valentines day weekend. Nicely done!

I had heard good things about Next Door Pizza over the past year or so, so when my friend and I decided to make this week our Lollapalooza-away-from-Lollapalooza week, we made the trip from downtown KC to Lee's Summit to give this place a try. First, let me say, our waiter was awesome. None of the food issues were his fault and he was completely empathetic to what we had to say about our food experience. We had the donuts as an appetizer because, well, we're grown ups and we didn't figure we would have room afterwards for dessert. They come with an awesomeness sauce...and it was pretty awesome. So awesome it hurt my poor, sensitive teeth, but I kept eating it nonetheless. When we got our pizza, we were really expecting something akin to every pizza I have ever had in Chicago in my entire life, no matter in which restaurant it was. What we got was a pizza with the crust similar to the Chicago style -- tall from the pan it was made in, but the pizza itself may as well have been New York style, as it was a mere millimeters thick with barely any topping and splotches of sauce splattered on top. Where is the gooey cheese? Why does the sauce not cover everything? Why is it served on a flat serving tray and not in a pan to catch all the gooeyness? Right, cause there wasn't any. We ordered a 14", which was said to feed 4-5 people, and there was just two of us. We wanted to take home the leftovers, so we ordered a larger one. There is absolutely no way that would satisfy that many people. When our sever came by to ask us what we thought, I told him up front that we were disappointed. He even said normally they are much thicker, yet I have seen others here complain about the thinness of their Chicago style pizzas. They discounted our order without our asking, which was nice, since we got about half of the pizza we should've gotten. When I posted a comment on the Facebook page voicing my disappointment, complete with a photo to prove how thin it was, my comment was deleted. Then, to show another level of unprofessionalism, they made an entirely new post about how "a recent customer" didn't think their pizza was "thick enough" and went on to compare their thickness to Lou Malnati's in Chicago. They are DRASTICALLY different from one another. The owner was looking to get people riled up against something they hadn't seen themselves. They need to learn to take criticism and fix what is wrong, which is all I was aiming for with my simple, three sentence post! At least I know this one can't be deleted so my words will be here, on the Internet, ringing my experience loudly whether or not the owner can handle it or not.

Just wanted to update my previous lousy review...I was reached out to almost immediately by the owners of NDP. We had a great conversation, honestly feel like they cared... My previous review, although was 50/50 their fault/our fault, we are all entitled to a bad night... Moral of the story with NDP? They listen and are interested in the relationship as much as making a good pizza... See you soon!

Poor service. Bartender not only did not have a beer menu, he couldn't tell me what he had on tap or in bottles. Poor service, poor experience, would not recommend. Waldo Pizza is much better on service and beer.

Went back on Sunday with the entire family. My not terribly easy to please father-in-law liked it. My kids loved it. I had the Firebug and I think I've had better, but I'm not sure where. Easily a top three slice of pie for me. My wife wasn't a fan of the 'bug, but something about the sweetness of the bbq sauce and the bite of the fresh jalepenos & roasted garlic just did it for me. I'm a spice guy so if you don't like a little burn order something else. A potential service gaffe was totally redeemed by the server. I don't know if they're training them to be happy at work, but you can tell from both kids that have served us they enjoy their job. Bonus - an unexpected personal thank you from the owner for my previous review. Bonus Bonus - went in with a free app (mozzarella sticks per kid request - promptly served and generous portion) and a $5 coupon hit my inbox this morning. I haven't given anyone five stars until now. NDP earned it.

My family liked this place. We had the cheese pizza( I know boring...but we have kids) and it was very good. We had the cheese sticks as an app. And it was large and good. Daughter had the meatball grinder...not my favorite. What I really liked is that despite being in a new area it seemed like a neighborhood place..

I was excited to hear about Next Door pizza especially because of the delicious looking Chicago-style pizza pictured on their website. So, I decided to drop by one day for lunch and try it out. A buffet was offered for lunch so I figured why not since it would give me a good variety of what they have there. My eagerness for the Chicago-style pizza was quickly put to rest as all that was on the buffet was thin crust pizza and some leftover sorry looking piece of deep dish pizza. I realize the deep dish takes longer, but it sure was disappointing to not be able to have some deep dish pizza. Towards the end of my meal, another deep dish did surface on the buffet but was littered with onions. Too many for my taste. I did go back and try a couple of deep dish pizzas for carryout. I am not sure where they got that picture for the website, it sure was not a picture of one of their pizzas. Looks like heading to Chicago is the only way to get good deep dish if you live in KC. And, like some other reviews (here and google) have said, the prices do seem a bit steep for what you get. They seem to concentrate more on having lots of beers than good pizza.

Tried both the Chicago Style deep dish pizza and thin crust pizza's. Chicago Style deep dish: Tip: It takes 30minutes to cook so if you don't want to wait you might want to call and ask to see if you can order ahead and then eat in house when you arrive so it's hot. Must eat at the restaurant, DO NOT take it to go from previous friend's experience it gets soggy and doesn't taste as good. We ate in house of course I had a half Butcher of Long... and half Hippie .. Butcher is kind of a meat lovers, absolutely no vegetables or fruits just all types of meat. The Hippie is the total opposite, no meat but mushrooms, onions, tomatos, etc. Thin Crust Pizza: We ordered a different day to go, and chose our toppings. The pizza is a typical type of pizza freshly made, though it can use more ingredients. Parts of the pizza felt bare with just crispy crust, tomato sauce and cheese. Make your own pizza starts about $13.75ish and each topping $1.25/ each topping. If you have a Groupon, it basically pays for a large pizza easily or depending on how you make your order maybe some small change. PS. be sure to walk toward the bathroom area and around the restaurant they have many designed doors hanging around and looks cool. There is a semi arcade looking area also.

I've always liked this place just fine, but when we had NY/NJ relatives visiting KC for the first time, and running them all over the metro to sample myriad culinary delights, this was actually their favorite stop. We had a problem. We had four people who love pizza, but who also had very different tastes. No problem, says server...they will do any of their specialty pizzas in a half-pie, quarter pie, whatever, so you can get as much of a sampler as you want. Which led my boyfriend to get the chicken spiedini monkey off his back, landed me some awesome Hope and Garlic (roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, and spinach), cured my BF's cousin's fever for fire (Firebug), and allowed his fiancee to experience the Bacon Explosion...pizza-style. The pizza is always delicious, here, but getting our own buffet to sample was awesome. However, what bumps it up another star? The dessert. Now, dessert is not something I often go for (or save room for) at a pizza place. And there aren't a lot of desserts, here, and I can't vouch for most of them. But, for the love of God, if you go here, for the salvation of all things good and holy, GET THE JOEY BAG O' DONUTS. Snicker-worthy dessert name for the Italians in the house (i.e. 3/4 of my party; I'm the only non-Italian), ridiculous in its simplicity, phenomenal in its execution. It's just a little paper sack of WARM house-made doughnuts...what, that's all, you say? Trust me, it's enough. I couldn't swear to it, but I wonder if these doughnuts are made out of a sweetened version of pizza dough...they are insanely good, amazing texture, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and served with a sweet dipping sauce. I'd go there for the bag 'o donuts alone, even if the pizza didn't rock.

My parents and I decided to try this place out for dinner just because of the reviews. Overall, I was impressed! Our waitress was very nice and funny. She certainly was there to wait on her customers and do a good job. They had Boulevard's Tank 7 on tap which always pleases me. Oh yeah, the food was good too! We ordered a thin with half Italian sausage and half spinach with artichokes. We also got a Chicago style with half Italian sausage and half buffalo chicken with tomatoes. Both sides of both pizzas were good. The thin crust reminded me of The Dish Famous' frozen thin crust pizza but only a lot fresher and better! We did have a couple minor problems. For one, they were out of Guinness on tap so they brought it in a can without telling us first. The Chicago style showed up with great colored toppings but unfortunately wasn't cooked all the way through. She was quick to return it to the oven and it came back prefect. They also didn't have chicken Florentine so we settled for buffalo chicken. Still was good. * Good Chicago style and thin crust pies! * Service was good and pleasant * We did have a problem with the Chicago style not being cooked all the way throughout * They were out of some items on their menu * Tank 7 was on tap! I got the 20 oz =)

I've wanted to try NDP for sometime despite mixed reviews. I should say up front that I love pizza, and that I'm pretty sure you can't get really good pizza outside of New York and maybe Chicago. And I haven't changed my mind quite yet. But NDP actually has some things going for them. I was with a large group and I tried the following: *The Inferno (spicy italian sausage, jalapenos, bell peppers*) *The Butcher (all meat pizza, both thin and chicago style) *The Ni9e (kitchen sink pizza) *Ricotta and spinach I liked everything. Of course, I had a very strong IPA before on a empty stomach that always seems to make everything taste better, but I was a fan. I also didn't pay for anything, so the pizza's taste wasn't weighed against any financial sacrifice on my part. One comment I've heard from others is that some of the pricing is on the more expensive side. I'd say for sit-down pizza, the price isn't too bad. I mean, you can get a $10 pizza from papa murphys but you still have to cook it---which is probably what most LS families will continue to do. Beer selection is impressive and reasonably priced, though I would have liked to see a little more Boulevard love. I really don't like the layout at all. The separation wall in the middle of the restaurant just seems like a bad use of the already minimal square footage. Also I'd ditch the help-yourself salad bar. Make a couple family sized salads with assorted greens, nuts and homemade dressing instead. And the chicago style really was just a thick crust. I liked it, but I would probably like anything that came 40 min after ordering. Oh, the owner Sal is a nice guy and can steer you the right way. Conclusion: If you want to go out for pizza and like microbrews, get a traditional half pep half inferno and watch the game.

My son and I went for the lunch buffet. The salad bar was OK, but with some field greens and more dressing choices added in, they'd be golden. We first tried the thin crust which was quite tasty and frankly, some of the thinnest pizza I've ever had. So thin, in fact, that I felt like I just kept eating it and wasn't getting full! It was a smidge on the greasy side, but overall very good. I held out for awhile on the deep dish and then finally gave in. Thank God! It was sooooo good. I do not normally order deep dish, so it was great to try it from the buffet. The crust was buttery and wonderful. I'm sure it had a jillion grams of fat, but after about 2 bites in I didn't care anymore. We ended with some apple pie dessert pizza which was also nice, but it could have been warmer. It's obvious they are getting their feet underneath them, so for small details I will cut a ton of slack, and look forward to visiting again when they get their groove.

Keep drinking the kool-aid. Because we do not get it. Jenn L. Post hit it on the head. The owner is to arrogant and egotist to look beyond the nose on his face. You can tell in his response to Jenn L. His response is attorney jargon which he used to be one. This place has the worst thin crust and deep dish pies in the city. The service is fine the pies second rate. We have been there several times each time is the same second class pizza. Prices are too high for what you get. There are much better pizza places around Kansas City. A no.

We went in Oct 2010 and then again in Dec 2010. First time: a two family group of 8 of us had the thin crust style. Adults had the combo and kids wanted cheese. Both came out fast, hot and tasty. Best thin crust pizza we have had in a long time - or perhaps ever. Bear in mind, I'm not usually a big fan of thin crust, but this changed my mind. Second time: four of us called ahead and ordered the deep dish pepperoni. We were seated quickly and within about 2 minutes out came our pie. Very filling and delicious. We are local LS fans of Minskey's, and NDP gives us a second place here in town to enjoy fine pizza. Looking forward to getting back and enjoying their different styles.

I had a great time here one afternoon last week. I wanted to yelp sooner, but you know how it is. I had the lunch buffet. It was kinda hard to get to the items because of the MONSTER sneeze guard, but I managed to get a nice salad and topped it off with their scratch croutons. Mmmmmm... The croutons are really the reason I wanted to write this review. They made that big of an impression. Don't let me lead you astray. They aren't magical, just damn tasty. Soft buttery and just the correct amount of salt, Parmesan, and garlic . The pizza was on par with the crouton. I know it sounds weird to state this, but its how I see it. The thin crust can be hard for some pizzerias to get right. Next Door has it down. They obviously have a great pizza oven and they know how to use it. I tasted the Chicago style as well and it was not anything to write home about but it was ok. I think I would like to return to NDP for dinner and order a complete pizza as opposed to the buffet.

Food was decent. Service was average. Until the end we had no real complaints. Then, when we asked for our check, we asked for fried snickers to go. 20 minutes later, when we were about to cancel and ask for a refund, they were finally brought out I bothered eating them, as I was no longer in the mood for dessert.

I really wanted to like this place because a friend of mine loves it and recommended it. So I gave them a shot. It was good. Not super or extraordinary. I had Chicken Parm. Good. Not great. Better than Fazoli's, for instance, but not up to the level of Garozzo's, in my opinion. I'll probably give them one more shot and try the pizza, which is probably their strong point, I'd assume. Service was fairly slow, I thought, even though it was not busy when we went. But the server was very polite. I agree with Kurt T. If you're in the neighborhood, sure. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here, though.

We met up at Next Door Pizza for their buffet today. I was awestruck by how the interior was decorated. It's called Next Door for a reason, as there's doors, decorated in sports teams, fireman, police, music. Even in the women's bathrooms there's a Girlscout door. But lets discuss the real reason it's so good. The Chicago pizza tastes like there's romano cheese in the thick crust. They add a spicy pizza sauce on top. The pizza itself is alfredo. I don't know how many pieces of it I ate. It's worthy of a review by itself. The crust has a cool pan pizza taste to it definitely hitting the Chicago type pizza right on. It kind of reminded me of Tree Guys in Itasca, Ill. During the buffet, which has a warming bottom metal type of system, instead of the usual warming lights above, the staff kept bring out pizza after pizza. Pepperoni, pep/sausage (made locally), meat lover's type, Hawaiian, and cheese pizza. All with a crispy thin homemade crust. There was pasta, but I usually ignor pasta on a pizza buffet. Aah, the cheese pizza, possibly the best I've had around here. It tastes like they use several types, and it's perfect. The pizza sauce us fresh, obviously homemade. I found the taste lively and original. I love the location! They give discounts to students, making my son's buffet with drink only 5.95, mine was 6.95. There's parking around the back.

Stopped in recently on a Wednesday and was hemming and hawing over the regular thin crust or Chicago style and the waiter mentioned on Wednesdays they do a New York style more traditional pizza crust. Went this route and by far this type of crust is my favorite of the three that Next Door Pizza offers! If I'm craving pizza on Wednesday I'll be going to Next Door Pizza.

Four star food: very good thin crust pizza, a unique deep-dish-ish crust but done thin...unique and delicious. Three of us had one cheese, and another with one half-chicken spedini, one half-meatball. We finished all but 3 slices! Donuts for dessert were memorable, Oreos on a plate were just Oreos, on a plate - Ho hum (but my 15 year old liked it). The pizza dilla app was fair, and arrived just seconds before the pizza. Star deduction: novice, slow service.

This place is in my neighborhood and and I like it! You just kind of have to find your favorite pizza or dish here and not expect too much. It's a pizza place not fine dining. The bar is a nice place to sit and have a drink. I always run into someone I know. I wish the bar area was bigger because I think more people would hang out. I'm giving this place 4 stars because it's a great neighborhood pizza place and people that work there are always nice! Only thing is the bar space...but it is a cozy space! AND I like the back door you can sneak in if you don't want to walk through the restaurant!

Update: The deep dish is just as good as the thin crust. I was expecting a very deep, buttery, Numero-Uno style crust, but it wasn't quite that thick... more like a hand-tossed crust with just a little heft. Yummy and not too bready. The sauce was a divinely fresh concoction of crushed tomatoes, not a jarred paste! (And since I was there sans kids, I got to order mushrooms) :-)

It's a trap! Don't be fooled by the name, the sign outside, or even by all the carryout boxes - It's not about the pizza, it's all about the "other" stuff on the menu! We had gone there a few times with our son, and the pizza was OK - yes, there are better places for pizza in the area (Waldo for instance) and in Kansas City (Caddy Shack, and so on), even the one night of the week when they have deep dish "Chicago Style" pizza. And then one night we happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to stop there for dinner - without our son. Neither of us were really in the mood for pizza so we happened to take a close look at the menu - Hmmm. The first tip off was their reference to "sugu" rather than sauce. Then I saw "Grinders" - stop, grab the first server and ask what they believe is a grinder! He paused a few seconds and said, "Well, they're a small loaf of Italian bread with one end cut off, the insides scooped out, meatballs or sausage and cheese stuffed in, and the end stuck back in backwards - that's how Grandma always made them." OMG, real grinders! It turned out that the sauces were all from "Grandma's" cook book, as were the rest of the non-pizza offerings. We had found real Italian home cooking! Skipping the pizza, we dug in to grinders, egg plant, and over the next few times, all the other dishes. All were great! Now they do have a salad bar (something I am not fond of) that others tell me is adequate. Cool. One of the nice things about the place is that they have a separate "room" with video machines and such for families with kids, so that they do not have to distract adult patrons. The full bar is also a good thing. I mean, this is where I learned about "Kansas" Whiskey! (Worth a shot if you are in to distilled spirits.) Service can run from "lackluster" to "very good" - it just seems to depend on who shows up for work that day. I believe they recruit from the Community College across the street, so it is going to be a lottery at your table. Prices are well in line with a neighborhood pizza place that also serves a community college. Going back? Yep, it is on our list.

for a person that just got back from Chicago and was craving some deep dish pizza, this was a huge disappointment. The pizza was burnt and as hard as a rock. Never coming back again.

This place is a bit of a frustration for me as sometimes I think it's some of the best deep dish I've had and other times it taste like a frozen pizza. We have been here a few times and the deep dish pizza often is very good and truly deep dish. However, sometimes I've ordered and what I received is a thin pizza with deep dish crust along the edges, in other words a whole bunch of crust around the edge and very little pizza, e.g. The last pizza we received had hardly any toppings very little cheese and sauce just randomly smatter around it. The service here is also inconsistent, sometimes it's really great and sometimes you have to go up to the bar to refill your drink. The bar on the other hand is top notch and for so few draft options they offer some of the best in the city and clearly have a great idea of what good beers are. If you haven't stopped by to try their drafts you're missing out as they keep them on a pretty good rotation as well. The bottom line is-this place has a great opportunity to be a really good pizza joint if they would just focus on consistently good pizza in service.

This is my second time coming here as I tried lunch (buffet) a few years back. I'd say the dinner service today was more impressive. The buffet is a little small making pizza shortage a possibility. To start off this visit we looked at the beer on tap menu. Not bad, not bad at all. Ordered a Deschutes Armory XPA and a Cinderblock Northtown Native. The later being pleasant surprise because I missed the chance when I was at Cinderblock earlier in the week. Several Founders options and a few other KC beer options were also on tap. Due to time we stuck with thin crust. We added a second layer to one of the pizzas to make it a little thicker. Ordered a cubano pizza. The pickles were a nice touch, but the pork while fine seemed like it could use some sauce. Also ordered some wings. The firebug grilling sauce is a barbecue sauce with a little kick. I like it hot so I didn't notice it as much, but enjoyed it being less sweet than other bbq sauces. The others at the table don't have much appetite for hot sauces and were able to eat some as well. I'd go back when in LS and wanting more than big beer with my pizza. Not that you can't get a couple domestic bottles with your pizza here too.

Awesome local pizza place! I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews, because the service we got this lunch was outstanding. The personal pizzas we ordered were perfect (we got the thin crust) -the Death by Bacon (WOW. it was like bacon candy on pizza!) and sweet and savoury... so very good, though I should have ordered a side salad to alleviate my extreme guilt for indulging so much. -and the Butcher of Longview (sausage, pepperoni, bacon and meatball) was soooo good. The fresh fresh toppings were not greasy at all. And so full of meaty flavor! Yeesh. We loved it! Hubby was impressed by all the beer selection, I like the separate kiddie/arcade game room, and the service was very good. All in all, I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more.

Worst pizza ever eaten !we had the fire bug which was suppose to be award winning Bbq sauce and for that cost I would of had little Caesars pizza or Pizza Hut or even dominos , this place awful & the waitress never came to check on us & took forever to even order and we had to get up to get our own forks , almost got up to get out own drinks ! the only thing good was the appetizer ! Biggest waist of money spent ! Don't waist your money !

Good local pizza spot. Ingredient are fresh and delicious. We went on a busy night and they gave us a free appetizer due to the long wait. Nice service, good beer selection. The Chicago is a little thin for Chicago style, but still better than any other choices around here.

Have been here many times and have always had a good experience. They have a pretty good craft beer list, not huge but usually have at least one unique one mixed in. Not a big fan of deep dish but the thin crust is very good. I recommend either the nines or the hippie. Salad bar is basic but good enough considering I don't go to pizza pubs for salad. The atmosphere is very family friendly with a arcade area on one side (they host a lot of parties on this side, I think). Overall, good pizza and a good beer list.

Ordered a pizza to go for me and my gf. We got a 12" combo lock which was yummy. Looked gigantic in the box, hate to see the next size up. It was empty inside but it Was almost 10pm. They have a good selection of beers and the bartender was really nice. In the words of a great man...i'll be back!

Like a few other reviewers, I've heard mixed opinions about NDP. I've had several of their pizzas, the "Hippie Chick" was my absolute favorite. It was loaded with veggies (they don't skimp!) and the deep dish crust was awesome. So many deep dish pizzas are loaded with tons of cheese so you have to stop after 1-2 pieces. This pizza has more toppings, less loads of cheese. The sauce is pretty tasty with a slight spice to it, not heavy, but well seasoned. The crust is where they win my heart! It's yeasty, cooked well, and truly tasty. This place is a lighter (if that's possible) version of traditional Chicago style deep dish, so I like it more. Personal opinion. They also have a great drink menu with a full bar. NDP offers several drinks you have a harder time getting elsewhere, so this impressed and pleased me. NDP is a nice, local joint, albeit a tad on the pricey side. I've yet to check out their buffet, maybe next time.

Good pizza, good beer selection. If you are ever near Longview Community College, this is a great place to check out. I once heard that pizza is a lot like sex, there's no such thing as bad pizza. This might be true, but sometimes there is some major regret the next day. I have never been prone to heartburn, but this stuff hurt all night, and most of the next day. Like ODB would say, I got burned. For real, it woke me up, and kept me up for over an hour. I don't know what it was, but this stuff got to me. It was a little greasy, but it's pizza, not granola. My wife was not affected at all in the same way I was, so it may have had nothing to do with the pizza. Maybe it was the Coney Island Lager that they charge $8 a pop for. I'm taking classes at the nearby Community College, and I decided to stop in one evening. It's a little, locally owned pizza spot that sports a good beer selection. Isn't that enough? I came in and took a seat at the crowded bar, and immediately struck up a conversation with some of the locals. They told me all about the history of Lee's Summit, and at the same time I learned that most of the people at the bar were neighbors, including the owner. Next Door Pizza indeed. The service was pretty good at first, but the barkeep got flustered pretty quick. I had to order beers several times over, and more than once. While I was in the middle of ordering a beer, a beer, not a lengthy to-go order, he became distracted and forgot all about me. At one point, a regular was trying to order some drinks, and the bartender got upset and started complaining that he had a bunch of tickets, and table orders to fill. No biggy, just get keep a persons glass full though buddy, until they tell you to do otherwise. After a couple beers, I ordered a slice of Peperoni that I know had been in the warmer at least as long as I had been at the bar. They keep their slices in one of those glass boxes with rotating shelves that you usually see at gas stations, or movie theaters. It was delicious. I would compare it to maybe Grinders pizza. Greasy, crispy, tasty. So tasty. They use those little quarter sized peperoni's, and they are not shy with them. My slices were still crispy, and warm. I was expecting them to be at least a little soggy, but they were really good. This prompted me to get a pie to go. I got the riccota/spinach pie so my wife could try it, and I opted for the thin crust. They offer Chicago style too, but I have to be in the mood for that. I was pretty bummed when I noticed that they had cut my pizza into squares. That really grinds my gears. Like I said, this place messed my tummy up, but my old lady didn't suffer the same effects. It's quite possible that something else caused the reflux. Although, it was a little greasier than most pizza places I had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the food, despite the burnin'.

About the owner: My first negative review, he flagged and had removed. My second negative review - he sent me a private message THREATENING ME and telling me that he would "call the Florida police and notify them of my whereabouts..." ya - whatever that means... Now, he has publicly indicated that I am a "disgruntled employee" in an attempt to discredit the review... Really??? Hard to believe people like this are allowed to own a business and feed your children. I have never worked there... I don't KNOW anyone who has worked there. In fact, I had great expectations about the place, UNTIL I MET THE OWNER. Do you really think I will ever eat at your restaurant again? Do you really think things like this just disappear? Maybe if you had apologized and tried to make up for your poor disposition, rather than lashing out in some pathetic display of self-righteousness, I might have come to move past it and try your food again. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Your time spent on public perception shows your lack of faith in your product.

Great deep dish, excellent thin crust. Sauce has terrific flavor, lots of cold beer on tap. Terrific lunch salad and pizza buffet. A true neighborhood joint - with the best deep dish in KC.

Awesome place to eat. Good pizza, friendly staff, laid back atmosphere, and did I mention the beers on tap?? Tank 7 and Buffalo Sweat. This is the place to go if you're a beer lover, definitely. Love!

Simple review. Great pizza (both deep and thin). Great selection of craft beers. If you don't like it, we could never hang out.

This place is in a cute part of town however the service and food does not match up to the expectation I had thru the window. When we arrived the place was average busy, but nobody was waiting to be seated. There was clearly a sigh telling us to wait to be seated. I would guess that 5-7 minutes went by and we never had an employee within 20 feet of us. We walked thru the bar area trying to find seats for ourselves somewhere in the dining area and at this point several people walked by us and still, no greeting. We stood there looking as lost puppies when the bartender walked right past, even making eye contact and still did not say a word to us. FINALLY a waiter said 'excuse me' as he walked by so I stopped him and asked to be seated. Within two minutes we had a table. By this time we knew we would need a drink to continue this visit in a good mood. We took a look at the specials menu and it said it was $3 craft beer night and $3 plate of Puerto fries. We placed our order in which the waitress knew absolutely nothing about the kind of beers on the craft beer menu when asked. We also ordered those $3 fries. The waitress was shocked when we asked for them because she said she had no idea they were on special, and didn't believe we would be able to order them at that price. She walked away for almost 5 minutes to inquire about the fries and said we could get them but it would be smaller portions than the regular menu item. At this time she also informed us that one of the craft beers we ordered (that the specials list did not have a disclaimer on) could not be included in the special because it was originally much more expensive. From a business perspective I understand. However nothing on the drink or specials menu indicated that and the waitress didn't even know. After we ordered our pizza, the rest of the visit went just ok. The Chicago style pizza was just ok. Not worth the 30-40 minute wait for it to bake for what was really just thick crust. Drinks were never refilled during our meal, and splitting the check had its limitations compared to most other places. In all, I had been begging my friends to try this place and in the end I actually apologized for picking this place. I won't be coming back here by my own will.

Don't go there if you want to go to a place and feel like a valued customer. Our last 2 visits have been horrible. The first time, we wanted to go and get a couple of beers and a pizza. We walked in intending to sit at the bar. As we came around the corner to 4 open seats at the bar, there was a reserved sign. Evidently, the bartender was saving space for her friends and would not allow us to use the seats. We left and went to Spin. The other night we had a to-go order. They seemed really put out to ring us up. It appeared to be a real inconvenience for them. They are about the same distance from our house as to Spin. Looks like Spin is our answer from here on out.

Love it! This is my first time having Chicago pizza and it was absolutely heavenly. I loved the crust, and the rest of the pizza too, just as much the next day for breakfast. It was flaky and good. My sister MADE me order one with meatballs and onions. Oh my gosh. I am so glad she did. If people made meatballs like those all of the time then our national dish would be meatballs. I kid you not. They were tender and tasted so good. Only one thing that keeps me from going back more and that is how cold it is. My tootsies suffer while I wait for my heavenly pizza. If I could take my heater with me I imagine I would live there. Mind you, it is probably just me having the cold problem. I mean, it is winter here in Missouri and I am a cranky old woman.

Next Door Pizza has great food and a good selection of beers on tap. I have their phone number programed in my phone so I can order a deep dish pizza when I leave the house and have it (closer to being) ready when we get there. The deep dish is great, but it's not exactly Chicago style, especially if you're expecting it to look like the picture on the website and menu - which must have come from the stock photo library of Chicago-style pizza. Point is, the pizza in the picture looks posed for a picture and what they bring out looks like it's ready to be devoured by hungry guests. Again, good! The Pizza-dilla appetizer, a folded over thin crust Italian version of a quesadilla, is probably the best bang for the buck on the menu. Even as I post this I can assume the price will creep up on this sub-$5 item. You'll think you've stepped into a state fair, minus the toothbrush-challenged carneies, when you flip the menu to the dessert side: fried Snickers being the most interesting item. Try it once then have nightmares about what you've done for your health and well-being, then try them again when the nightmares subside. They quickly expanded their dining space after opening to include a kid-focused area with games and such. Kids can make their own pizza, so that's fun, or a complete disaster depending on what your kids do. One service goof we had was when their was a communication break down between the server and kitchen and our oldest son's sausage pizza didn't get the sausage added. Rather than admit there was a goof, the server kind of tried to hide the error then brought out his pizza with sausage that was clearly speedily cooked (mashed with a spatula and slightly burned) and added quickly to a cheese pizza that had waited under the warming lamps for too long. No sweat, probably just a rookie server that hasn't yet learned a little honesty goes a long way. One thing any pizza joint could have more of is booths. NDP is strictly tables, with maybe one or two exceptions. I'm sure booths are expensive, so hopefully I'll be able to keep going back to help build their bank account for a booth upgrade.

Next Door has some pretty good deep dish pizza. Given that we aren't in Chicago but in little ol' Lee's Summit, I would say this is some of the best deep dish around! 4 stars cause it takes FOREVER to get your pizza. However, it always seems worth the wait...

Tech Nine would be proud of his namesake pizza. Other good speciality pizzas to be had. Ranks high on the list of neighborhood pizza bars.

Since they have opened we have gone once a week. If you become a facebook fan you can see what the specials are daily which rock. Takeout Tuesday is the best deal in my opinion. I still have a tough time deciding between the thin and Chicago. The sauce is a little spicy which is perfect. If you are going to get the Chicago I recommend calling it in. It takes a good 30min to cook. With the free bread you do have something to munch on while waiting or order some Jalapeno cheese fries while you wait. They freakin rock. It does get a little packed so I do recommend calling ahead. Especially on kids eat free Mondays. Pretty cool when the kids get to make their own pizzas. We have tried Spin and a few others but this has made it to the top of the list. I hope they are here to stay.

Three of us went for a weekday late lunch. We ordered a 15" Thin-crust Pizza with 5 toppings (Italian Sausage, Bacon, Meatball Pepperoni and Pineapple) and the cost along with free homemade cheesy bread was $20.00. There was a lot of cheese on the pizza and all toppings including sauce were excellent. We ordered 3 Salad Bars ($4 each) and although limited in selection, the salad bar was very fresh and enjoyable. I particularly liked the homemade croutons, dried cranberries and house low-cal dressing. We also ordered three drinks and our waitress kept them full plus gave us an option of taking a drink to go after our meal - an unusual and nice gesture. We left with a box of Pizza which I just ate for lunch :-) My only complaint was that a really big guy like myself felt as if he might break the little wooden chairs. I would suggest the wall-booth seating for big folks like myself. I no longer drink alcohol but in the days when I did I would have loved the "Pub" option here. Also games for the kids and some great looking wings and dessert choices on the menu. I really have to disagree with the comments that the prices are too high. This is not Corporate mass-produced pizza. This is the real thing and worth every penny.
